The Future of Thought: Philosophy in the Age of Artificial Intelligence
This workshop aims to provide students with an introduction to the philosophy of artificial intelligence, exploring prominent views advocated by many of the field’s most influential figures such as Turing, Searle, and Chalmers through philosophical essays and science fiction. It covers a wide range of concepts, terminology, arguments, and methodologies utilized in contemporary discourse on the philosophy of AI in the hopes of granting students a spectrum of lenses for analyzing our political, economic, and social responses to this nascent technology.

Final Deliverable: By the conclusion of this course students should have produced a final essay in which they examine a philosophical dilemma pertaining to existence or application of artificial systems. This paper serves as a tangible indication of the most important insights gleaned from the course: improved critical thinking skills and the ability to communicate convincing argumentation in a comprehensive manner.
