Pioneering Politics: An Introduction to Political Philosophy
This workshop aims to provide students with an introduction to political philosophy, exploring the views advocated by many of the field’s most influential figures such as Plato, Hobbes, Locke, and Rousseau, as well as many of their contemporary proponents and critics. It covers a wide range of concepts, terminology, arguments, and methodologies utilized in modern political philosophy in the hopes of granting students a spectrum of lenses for analyzing our political, economic, and social institutions and the ideological systems underlying them.

By the conclusion of this course students should have produced a final essay in which they examine a contemporary or historical political, economic, or social organization, providing unique and thoughtful insight into its creation, continuation, or conclusion. This paper serves as a tangible indication of the most important insights gleaned from the course: improved critical thinking skills and the ability to communicate convincing argumentation in a comprehensive manner.
