Percy Jackson, Circe, The Song of Achilles, and more, are all books that take ancient myths and adapt them to the real world. Modern Mythmaking will analyze ancient mythological texts, and what makes them still relevant today. We will read stories about Achilles, Odysseus, Icarus, Pandora’s Box, and more. Students will then create their own myths and stories, based on the texts we have read and their own lived experiences, with the guidance of the instructor. This class is designed to promote the creative expression of the students, and they are encouraged to take creative risks in their writing.
